My name is Ted Hedges,1948 I was a Telegram/boy working from the sub-post office at Lanark Road, Maida Vale, London W.9.It was quite regimental in that there was a senior boy(Tom Coward) and the system moved down to the new faces (chisles), who were usually ceremoniously initiated- usually with boot polish. A dream job given by the PSM. (postman supervising messengers) A lovely old gentelman nicknamed Bodger (Watts)-was to be bike boy-mending punctures etal..I remember most of the lads there-Coward(supported Q.P.R.) and Tom Bundy-Kavanagh-Spratley-Chadwick-Giles(a rascal)-Gordon-France-.From there I went to Ealing Broadway riding 250cc BSA- motorbikes almost until I did my national service in the Royal Signals in 1952.
