NOTICE OF WIKI SHUTDOWN

We regret to announce that this wiki will soon close as part of the redevelopment of this website.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all those who have contributed to this project over the past few years.

We hope to find new homes for some of the material that has been contributed to this wiki. Those who have made contributions are welcome to contact wiki@postalheritage.org.uk to discuss this. Photographs may be added to our Flickr group Britain’s Postal Heritage.

In the future we hope to offer other opportunities for postal history enthusiasts to work with wikis. If you would like to be contacted about these initiatives please e-mail wiki@postalheritage.org.uk to register your interest.

You may also contact us at wiki@postalheritage.org.uk if you have any questions or concerns about the wiki shutdown.



This part of The British Postal Museum & Archive website is a wiki. Wikis are interactive websites: that means YOU can add pages, change text or add images, as YOU want.  See what other people from London have been "Wiki-ing" about using the Recently Edited Pages link on the right.

By working together with we can make these pages a really valuable resource relating to the history of the post. It's a collective effort, and we need your help to make it work! If you're interested in becoming part of our community of Wiki users, keeping up to date with new pages on the Wiki, and discussing the topics on here, why not join our BPMA Wiki group email.

    These are not the only ways that you can contribute to the Wiki. If you have other ideas, why not create a new page. Click the 'Create new page' button on the right-hand side of this screen. You can then create a link to your new page from this FrontPage. See the Help page for further instructions.

    The golden rules

    There are certain rules for anyone using the BPMA Wiki. These rules are quite simple, but as the wiki grows in size they may have to become more sophisticated. These will always, however, be the three golden rules:

    • This wiki was created by The British Postal Museum & Archive, so all subject matter on this wiki must be 'postal' in some way.

    • No obscene or derogatory content is allowed.

    • Respect other wiki users and value their work. Do not vandalise or steal content.

    We welcome your contribution to the Guidelines for using the BPMA Wiki. You can find out more about how to use the wiki on the Help page.  The BPMA Wiki is a work in progress, and we have plans to add more features, a for you to use. Please tell us your Ideas for wiki improvements
    Please note: the BPMA Wiki currently works best with the Mozilla Firefox web browser, although Internet Explorer will also work (download Mozilla Firefox for FREE).
