New website for The British Postal Museum & Archive

6 June 2011

From today, 6 June, The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) is launching its brand new redesigned website on www.postalheritage.org.uk.

The website, designed by Mind Unit, has got a new, exciting look as well as lots of new interesting content and features.

The BPMA has had a website since 2006, and after 5 years of continual growth, the structure of the website needed to be overhauled to improve navigation and enhance the visitor experience.

Every user can now access more than 900 pages. New additions to the site include:

  • New content, such as new articles in the History section;
  • Photo galleries and access to bigger images
  • Increased focus on social media – it is now easier to share pages and information using Twitter, Facebook and Google Buzz.
  • More than 95,000 searchable records in the online catalogue
  • The Phillips Collection, comprising of more than 2,200 pages, is now searchable. The Phillips Collection is an unparalleled philatelic collection, chronicling many of the important changes to the postal system in the 19th century.

The BPMA has in the past two years developed an impressive social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, and Flickr. The organisation also has a regularly updated blog, featuring stories on the BPMA collections, events and other interesting postal related stories.

This launch is just the beginning; many new features and information will be added to the website in the near future. This includes a Timeline of Key Dates, which will launch soon.
