In November 1933 BLH 485 was one of the first pre-war Morris Minor Official Motor Vehicles in Barnard Castle to replace the BSA Motor Cycle Combinations (MCCs?) that were introduced in the 1920s. [Source: Chris Hogan, Hon. Editor, Post Office Vehicle Club.]? The term Official Motor Vehicles (usually abbreviated to OMV by the GPO) was introduced to distinguish vehicles owned by the General Post Office from those owned by contractors and operated under contract to the Postmaster General. The GPO had a long history of preferring contractors to undertaking transport work itself and it was only when it realised it could do the work more cheaply itself that it was tempted to try its own mailvans.
