Sir Francis Freeling
Sir Francis Freeling was Secretary of the Post Office from 1793 to 1829. He was one of the longest serving administrators of the Post Office in the 19th Century. By establishing a system for recording minutes and reports, Freeling created the foundation on which today's Royal Mail Archive is built. It is for this reason that the home of the BPMA was named in his honour in 1984. The name was kept when the Archive was moved to its current location.
