Outposts of Britain

Outposts of Britain was the sixth series in the posters for schools scheme. The series of four posters by Edward McKnight Kauffer showed how the Post Office could overcome distance, reaching out to distant places.

Photomontage, combining the modern medium of photography with painted elements, is used in Post Office poster design for the first time. It also introduces the incorporation of lettering as an integral part of the design.
