The British Postal Museum & Archive is committed to respecting copyright law and other intellectual property rights. We make every effort to trace and obtain permission from copyright owners in order to reproduce intellectual property to support our work and in turn, make every effort to protect our copyright and trademarks.

There are a number of ‘fair dealing’ copyright exceptions as outlined within the UK’s Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, as amended and revised, whereby images and text protected by copyright law may be reproduced free of charge. These include

  • Instruction for illustration
  • Quotation
  • Non-commercial research of private study

The BPMA have implemented a ‘take down notice and procedure’ to mitigate against the risk of copyright infringement. Please contact us if you are the owner of the copyright in any of the material that has been reproduced on this website, or in a publication or broadcast to which BPMA has provided material from its collections, and you believe that the material infringes your intellectual property or any other rights.

The material will be withdrawn from our website upon receipt of your written objection and our initial verification of your complaint, while the matter is investigated.
