Overview

Available for the first time as a pair are two First Day covers. Included in the set are:

2006 National Stamp Day Cover bearing the National Stamp Day postmark 6 May 2006. It also carries a first class stamp from HM The Queen’s 80th birthday issue. This links to the BPMA exhibition Elizabeth: Queen & Icon about Her Majesty’s life in stamps, which opened in April 2006. The cover comes with an insert charting the development of the GPO logo, with illustrations from The Royal Mail Archive.

The Victorian Innovation Cover was developed in relation to the Victorian Innovation philatelic exhibition at the BPMA, between September 2005 and April 2006. The cover features an illustration of an envelope-making machine at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and is serviced with a special single-date handstamp and a British definitive 1st class stamp.
