Aims of the BPMA
The British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) has certain key aims which drive our work.
- We aim to promote full access to the collections and to facilitate learning through education, outreach, research and inspiration.
- We aim to manage the collections and archives to the highest professional levels; always working to see them designated as nationally important.
- We aim to open a new combined centre, where the archive and museum collections can be enjoyed together as an international site for research, access and interpretation of postal history.
- We aim to run learning programmes which increase peoples interest and knowledge in all aspects of Royal Mail today and through time.
- We aim to create and develop a Foundation for learning and outreach to raise funds for celebrating postal heritage.
- We aim to develop new businesses to support the BPMA and its collections
Many of these aims are already being realised. Some aims may take on different emphasis as the BPMA moves forward, but our commitment to widening access to our collections will always remain at the heart of our work.
